It is a while since I went really big, and on canvas, so I thought I would take the opportunity to make something for myself. I have never done a "gallery wrap" painting, so I bought frame and canvas for a 100 x 100 cm (39.4" x 39.4") painting.
I did a real big painting a few years ago, in my old style, but this is the biggest I have done with my new looser style. I had to adjust my approach to the size. I had the tendency make too much small details everywhere, had to balance it with big broad brush strokes. It was fun, I learned a lot, and I like it.
Wow Roger, this is beautiful! Love the bright colors in the upper half of the painting and the more darker colors under. Your trees were always very nice but in this size they are great. Good job!

RaderaWhat I like about working big is the added dimension. I can do large clean brush strokes and put in details without having to be careful.I don't like to diddle with small brushes.

SvaraRaderaI'm back again. I see you paint the edges. I like it when artists do that. I'm not fond of leaving it white or painting it black, even if it does end up in a frame. Actually, I prefer large paintings unframed, so the painted edges are fun.
