I have started to paint some flower abstractions, but most of my paintings done lately has been part of my abstract series. I do have a few paintings that I can mix in for variation in theme, but I appologize if someone thinks there is too much abstract going on.

This is one of my favorite abstract paintings. I also like the colors and have done a couple of paintings with those colors.

It has been a while since I painted anything small. I will give it some more attention and hopefully post them more regular. This is small painting in my latest series. Going small forces me to simplify and focus the composition.

Three weeks to go and I have started to wrap up paintings that are framed and ready for my exhibition. I am considering including a few of my latest abstract paintings, but am not sure if I am objective enough to make a good choice. I am considering this one.

Forest Exploration 14

Not all paintings that I have done lately has been big (even though most of them are). This is one of my smallest tree paintings and I really like it. It has a simplicity and directness that I really like.

To mark my abstract adventure and bring them together, make them a series, I have decided to change their names. The new name on this series of paintings will be "Shapes & Movement".

I am still continuing exploring abstract art. Trying out different paths. I think I am able to translate my style to pure abstract, but it is a journey and I have a lot of fun doing it.

This is a continuation of a painting with limited color palette that I did earlier. That one is a favorite of my loved one, and I did this one as tribute. This is also a big one.

I'm new to painting non figurative abstract paintings, have only done a few, but it is an interesting subject, as long as I got an idea or a concept. It is no secret I like to paint big, I even like big paintings on my walls.
I did this composition on a small panel earlier, I liked it a lot. I tried several times to transfer it to a larger panel, but every time something was lost in the translation.
I didn't give up, and with this one I finally got what I was looking for.

I liked the initial sketch a lot and I think I will do some black and white (or blue and white) paintings later, but this is the path I took this time. A small photo doesn't do this one justice, I really like the vibe I get from this one in person. It is a great challenge going this big, but a fun challenge.

Landscape exploration 2 - The start

This is the first brush strokes of my latest and largest painting.I didn't have any reference picture for this painting and my initiate thought was to go in a totally different direction than where it ended up. I went with the flow and sketched this composition/layout with bold blue brush strokes. I also kept these blue brush stokes through the final painting to keep it less realistic, more abstract, even though some will get the association to water.

I am still not sure how many paintings I will show in my exhibit during Easter, but I have to get paintings framed and decide which will be in soon. This is one that I might have in, but all depend what mix of paintings I decide to have. I have some large more abstract nest paintings that I think is among the ones that will be in the exhibition, so this one is only a "might be in".

I have worked on the large side lately, so not much new small paintings to show. My latest painting (that I hope is finished and good enough) is 40" x 40". This one is smaller and is a composition I did several version of and I had a lot fun exploring.

I have done 3 paintings of this subject and composition, a single flower based on a sunflower. The last one was a small painting that I thought would be on my upcoming exhibition, but it got sold. I got the urge to do another one, but not repeating myself. I went up in size, a lot, and I like the impact that it has.

Forest Exploration 12

It is typically me, but right now, when everything is working out, I get tired of what I am doing. I think I have to mix up things a little and give trees a rest for a while.
I did this around a week ago and it is not my typically painting. It is a gallery wrapped canvas and is among the biggest things I have done.
My challenge when it comes to painting is the fine balance between being contemporary and being illustrative. I really wanted to keep this one contemporary and rough. I think it turned out great.
