This is a small autumn abstraction, and in a way more abstract than usual. Up close it might look busy for some, but take a few steps back and let the eyes blend the brush strokes a little and the image emerge and get clear and graphic. I really like this one.

These pine cones are tricky to do. Very complex and defined, not much room to work with. I don't want them to get to realistic, which gives me a little creative freedom though.

Playing around with shapes and colors of an flower is fun, trying new things and going outside my comfort zone. This one has the shapes of a flower, but I twisted the colors a little, making it less a flower that can exist. I like the color combination in this one.

When I do my best work, in my opinion, I am relaxed, having fun and am not overthinking what I am doing. This one wasn't planned and I painted it without any expectations. That is a great feeling.

I did this one a while back when I explored my  "simplified and graphic flower design" concept. Having an expressive painting style, every painting is a process, a journey. Painting small can take that to an extreme where every brush stroke matter. I really like this one. The painting is both expressive and graphic.

Autumn Berry Abstraction 21

The fall/autumn is finally here and I can paint as many autumn berry paintings as I want, well I did jump start a little, got several to show over the next month  or so. The big difference from earlier is that I have continued with small sizes and had a lot of fun adjusting content with size and pushing the boundaries and going outside my comfort zone.

I did this one at a point when I knew that I had to mix things up, painting something new, but didn't know what I wanted to paint. I just went for it, had som fun with it. It is very direct and playful.

This is one of those paintings that was different enough to make me wonder, but in the end, give me a lot of inspiration. It is not always that I am objective enough to see what paintings that will be future favorites or have an impact on which direction I will take my art.

This is how the painting look with my rustic home-made frame. The frame and painting complemented each other very well. It has a modern nature feel to it. The painting is now on it's way to it's new owner.

It is funny how things works out. I didn't have any drive to paint and the only thing that interested me and worked were my flower abstractions. I just went for it one day, didn't think at all and I did this one, the first in a row of autumn berries paintings. I have also done paintings with apples, tomatoes etc. A real change of pace.

White flowers are a challenge for me. Using outlines doesn't work in my favor, but when it works, it puts a smile on my face and give me such great energy.
