This is my last "Tree abstraction" painting for now. I know there is more coming at some point, but for now I will let this subject rest. I am waiting for the next  idea that will take them into a new direction. I went with a different color scheme on this one.

This is the 4th painting I started to paint in this series of painting, but it was the 5th one finished. I haven't done many of this kind of still life, partly cause I think others does it better and partly because I have thought it wasn't my thing. Well, I have rethought it, and I think as long as I do it my way, it can be worth to explore.
After drawing this one up, I felt very bored, but when I got into it and saw the direction it took, I had a lot of fun.

 Just so you are up to date. I started this one after I started on a very traditional composition with harmony, bowl in the middle of the canvas and I felt very strongly about it, but at the same time I was bored already. I usually avoid those compositions, but at the same time I know that it isn't what you paint, it is how you paint it.
I just let go with this one. I had taken this reference photo of a bowl with a slightly off-balance composition, but I liked it, so I gave it a go. I finished the other one too, but since I finished this one first, it got the number "4".

I had no idea what I was going to paint, but then I got a request to do more bowls with fruits, thanks Tracie for getting me started again. This is the first of 3 that I have done so far and the purpose was to get into painting again, stay loose and have fun with it.

This is my last painting left to show (I think), either I have to start painting again or take a break from posting, you have to wait and see. I am sure I will have something to show soon, have nothing to do for the next 4 weeks than paint, enjoy the summer and life in general.

This my latest tree exploration painting, and it got a real abstract feel to it. I have taken things slow the last week, needed a little break to work up some energy and figure out what I want to do now, after all it is summer.

Dark cherries abstraction 1

I have been slacking lately and am running out of paintings to post, but as now I got at least 2 more to show.
This one was inspired by 2 previous paintings, Dark cherries & Healthy snacks 5 . I like this one a lot. It is low key, but the size gives it a big impact.

Someone wondered if I had a lot of my tree paintings on my walls and how it looked? Well, only got 2 in my bedroom.

This is actually an old painting that was called "Purple Irises in the shade" and did get a lot of views when I posted it for the first time. I do/did like it, the limited color palette, but there was something that was bugging me. I am not sure if it is the fact that I have loosened up a lot since then or that I thought it lacked something that made it "pop".
Anyway, I reworked both the flowers and the background, not easy since some things are set and can't easily be changed, but I felt that I rather do something and fail than keep it as it was. Right or wrong decision, have no idea, but personally I like it more now.

I usually like to crop and cut, getting close to an object, but I pulled the Iris flower back and show more of the negative spaces. I tried to keep the background fun and lively, but not too much, didn't want it to compete with the flowers attention.

I must confess that I almost loose track of which paintings that I haven't posted yet, what number it is, since I don't take them in order. This one is a reaction or continuation after I did number 16. It got more nuances and details, feels a little lighter.

This is my 7th and for the moment last snacks painting.
I have also been thinking about taking some time off painting, or at least slowing down and enjoying the summer. I have a 4 week vacation coming soon. Not going anywhere, but am going to take things slow and enjoy life.
I also plan to go back to paint on paper for a while and really experiment and try new things.

This is the first painting I did of this kind of Iris, and it lead to me doing the larger painting with 3 of them. I wanted the background to be vivid but not drawing too much attention away from the flower, so I went with softer earthy colors and I think it worked well.

With this one I continued to paint wet on wet and to play with the shapes and colors. I like the abstract feel of this one.

It is no secret that I have painted a lot of Irises lately. When I visited my father a few weeks back I took photos of an Iris flower that inspired this painting. It had a different color setting. It is a nice challenge to paint yellowish white in an interesting way. I did paint a single flower first on a 16" x 16" canvas hardboard-MDF, but I think I show this first.

Testing putting price only on material and time used, not size.

 I started darker with this one and worked from there. It made the trunks darker and made the painting more dramatic with those contrasts.

I am not sure what kind of landscape suits my style or what kind of landscapes I would like to do.  My style is very graphic and with bold black lines and I am not sure if I can do trees from a distance in a interesting way, or if I want too. This painting is part of finding some answers.
