Partially Abstract Water Lilies 22
About a week ago, I got back to paint my old favorite, Waterlilies, and I tried to paint them more spontaneous than usual, and today I went back to do it again. I tried to follow the last one in style, keep it fresh, loose and with big brush strokes. I know I am not objective right now, but it feels like I am going in the right direction and I have a lot of fun.

The Help the Children of Africa Challenge - Purple Iris 1 mini
The Daily Paintworks homepage (I am a featured artist there), is holding a fund-raising challenge to help the children of Africa suffering from a devastating famine. This give artists and art lovers an opportunity to help the children starving in the Horn of Africa.
I have donated a painting I posted earlier. Reason why I chose it is partly because I like it a lot and that it is easier to ship since it is one of my smaller paintings.

Avocado 3
Posting 3 avocado paintings in a row usually mean that it will get fewer views, some people think they have already seen it, some thinks "another one?", well haven't had much time to paint, but did this 3rd avocado painting. Tried some new things. More than one avocado, played with the composition and colors. Wanted this to be different than the other 2.

Avocado 2
Well, yes it's another avocado. I often try different things with the same motive or the first one inspire me to do more. This one I tried the "from above " approach.

Avocado 1
Going through my list of vegetable and fruit that would be fun to do or that I think look great, I finally got the the avocado. I think it's form and colors are fantastic. This is my first take on the subject.

Red-green apple 1
I continued my quest of pushing my limits. I tried to keep the same approach as the previous apple, though it demanded more details to show the apples colors and character. I was blown away how fast I did this painting.

Red apple 1
Thought I would go bigger and bolder, and since I can't go bigger on paper right now, I went on to paint things bigger. I chose to paint fruit for a change. I had a lot of fun and will continue to push my comfort zone with these. I was surprised how fast I painted the 2nd one, but first I show you the first one I did.

12 squares of waterlily fun
I have done squares that were meant to be able to hang together. I also done 4 squares on the same paper/canvas. This time I thought of doing a lot of squares on the same paper. Each square had to work in some level on it's own. The squares had to work together and I want to make it in a way that fused the squares together so you see it as a whole and not as much as individual squares. Not sure if I explained it well enough, but here it is anyway. Wanted it to be fun, rough, colorful and spontaneous.

Hibiscus Syriacus 2
I did 2 paintings with these flowers, didn't want to post them together. Not sure, but get the feeling that if one post more than one painting on the same subject, the 2nd one doesn't get the same attention, perhaps cause of the fact that one just saw a similar painting.

Partially abstract water lilies 21
I continue to push my limits when it comes to my Waterlilies. Lately I have tried to play with my lines, making them in different thickness, not doing them all the way, and now I have also started to do them in other colors.
Experimenting mean sometimes that the journey was more rewarding than the finished painting. I painted this yesterday so I am still not objective, but I think this one works for me.

Hibiscus Syriacus 1
Walking around the area where I live and photographing the lovely flowers that can be found, I took a lot of photos of bushes with these flowers. There where bushes with white flowers and bushes with blue/purple ones. I had no idea what they were called when I painted them, but thought I had to look them up. When I saw the name, I got an "aha" experience. It's a Hibiscus flower (Hibiscus Syriacus to be exact).
I tried to keep the painting simple, but still expressive, spontaneous and done with bold brush work.

Partially Abstract Water Lilies 20
I continue to paint water lilies at the moment. This one I took further toward abstraction. Painted it rough, big brushes, experimenting and trying new things.

Water Lilies 2011:17
Another loose painted water Lilies painting. I went for the close-up composition. Took some lovely pictures when I visited Lund's botanic garden. The water Lilies green leaves were so many that they rise above the water surface to get sun light.

Purple Iris - Mini 5
This is a painting I did a week ago, I thought it was OK, but wasn't sold on it. I tweaked it, changed some of the colors on the iris and changed the color of the background. I think it is much better now.

Water Lilies 2011:16
And now something totally different, or not. Well I have done a lot of water lilies this year, after all, have been my favorite subject the last couple of years. This one is on the big side and was painted with larger brushes and tried to keep it fresh and not get caught on too much details.

Purple Iris 8
Once again I am going back to my latest favorite subject, the Iris flower. Am still trying new things, this time I kept it loose, even with the amount of details I was able not to overwork it. I am pleased with the result.

Working with loose and rough brush strokes, keeping things simple. And still working with the Cone flowers. Main goal is to get back into painting again, and get out of my comfort zone. Think I am doing both.

White coneflowers with butterfly
I am slowly getting back into painting again. I let statistics dictate what I should paint etc. Not a good place to be in. I have worked on some paintings with white cone flowers. I keep it simple, rough and just trying to get the groove back. This one is the first painting I've done since "The Nature's Arrangement Challenge", which also was a coneflower. I think they are fun and a little bit over the top, compared to daisies.
