Landscape Exploration 37

It has been a while since I posted anything, in fact it has been even longer since I hold a brush and painted something. I decided to take a break from painting, things around me was more important and I wanted to focus on that. When things around me calmed down and I was able to focus more on myself, additions to our family took priority. Within two months we bought two "Whippet" puppies, Zune (now almost 7 months old, fawn and white) and Brage (7 weeks younger, brindle) a lot of joy and a lot of work.
I am back painting again and will hopefully continue with it. I still got paintings left to post from before my break, so I will mix old and new paintings in future posts.

I start with a painting that I did last year and two pictures of our dogs.....

Landscape Exploration 28

The majority of my paintings are still flower explorations, but I do mix things up with exploring trees and landscapes too. I haven't reached the point yet, but planning to do a large landscape painting, the largest so far.
This is a small landscape I did a wile ago. I am trying to find the balance between loose and structure.

Forest Exploration 22

This is a small landscape/forest painting, part of my attempt to find new paths to explore.

Forest Exploration 21

This is the painting right now that inspire most when it comes to trees and landscapes. The problem for me is to not overthink it, not trying to replicate something that was pure instinct and confidence over my own ability.

Forest Exploration 20

I have moved on from flowers to trees, landscapes and forests. I still have flower paintings to show, but will mix a little for variation. This is the first one I did, just went with the flow and didn't have any restrictions.

Landscape Exploration 20

This painting was a few minutes from being scrapped and re-used for a new painting. I started painting it around 6 months ago, and had a rough time, one minute I loved where it was going, hating it 5 minutes later. I had no idea where I was going. It was not realism ( like I would ever), but it wasn't abstract either.
I just put it aside and thought it would be one of those that wouldn't get finished. It had potential, but it also had it's problems, but I had no vision.
I told my biggest fan and critic what he thought, and he said that he loved it and forbid me to reject it. I took his advice and decided to give it a go, to solve the things I didn't like.
Am not objective right now, but I solved it, and I am pleased with the end result.

I had no idea what picture I had used as reference and had to just to make it work.

Tree Abstraction 55

I hate waiting, and there is a lot of that going on right now. I still got some paintings that I can post, but I will run out sooner or later.

Landscape abstraction 7

I felt that I had to push myself a little after doing a more "subtle" landscape painting, going more bold with the colors and brush strokes. It is the same size as the other real large ones that I have done. It was a challenge, but I think it paid of.

Landscape Exploration 8

This is one of the smaller ones I have done since my exhibition. I still love to explore and express myself on large canvases. I kept this one clean and graphic, making each brush stroke count.

Landscape Exploration 11

This is my latest painting. Can't say that I am objective right now, but I am pleased with it. I know that I can paint small, but right now it doesn't work for me. It is only when I go big that I feel that I can spread my wings and fly. Going small right now mean getting stuck, but I know that will change.

2nd photo show size compared to a 6" x 6" painting.

Tree Abstraction 52

I have been thinking about the fact that I have been continuously painting for 3 years, something I haven't been able to do before. My conclusion is that before I did nothing to evolve, to grow, just did what I had always done. Sure I got more skill, but I never got a thrill from it. For better or worse, I am now on this journey and I enjoy it.

This is an larger abstract landscape painting, with a limited color palette.

Tree Abstraction 54

I just went full turbo with this one, going full color, not holding back. It remind me of a rainbow and I like how bold it is.

Landscape Abstraction 2

This painting is the result of going in a new direction, but keeping a limited color palette. I like this one a lot.

Tree Abstraction 49

(Since it is a study and I had a birthday recently)

This one is a revisit to an older approach to paint trees, a path I will revisit again. This one was more like a study than an attempt to do a finished painting. I have been painting a lot lately and am considering what to do next, slowing down a little.

Landscape Abstraction 3

This is one of the most complex landscapes that I have done. At first I did work more with depth, fading colors more in the distance, but it got so boring that I had to go my own way, after all, I am no realistic painter. It was a real challenge, but I like the end result.

Landscape Exploration 5

This is one of the large paintings that I did during and after my exhibition ended. I was very inspired. The paintings is very conceptional and graphic.

Tree Abstraction 57

This is a small painting with focus on composition, simplicity, colors and contrasts. These small paintings really challenge me, and that can be a good thing.

Landscape Abstraction 1

This little abstract landscape painting inspired me to push the colors in a series of paintings. Have had a lot of fun with it.

Landscape Exploration 9

There is a little fun story attached to this painting. It started out as a hit and miss painting, that I almost scrapped. I liked the left part, but the right part really sucked. I putted it aside and gave it a rest, not sure what to do, I really liked the left side. The day after, I decided to rework the right side, being bold and I think it worked out very well.

Tree Abstraction 53

I have done this kind of color combinations on larger tree abstraction paintings, but this is the first one that is small. I love these limited color palettes.
