A lot of painters do more items, more complex compositions when they go up in size, I do it too sometimes, but I also enjoy doing a composition that I might do on a 8" x 8" panel. The downside is that the size impact get lost on the net. I enjoy painting these flowers, playing with their characters, colors and shapes.

Certainly anything larger than life sized packs a punch and I bet these larger pieces you are doing, do just that. Is it because you are on vacation and have the time? The square format really works for you in every way. Love the colors in this one - analogous...kind of a gentle following the color wheel from blues into greens with a little bit of yellow.
