I painted this cupcake a while back. I painted two types of cupcakes at the time and I did at least two versions of each. Haven't posted before because I decided to keep this one myself.

This is one of the cupcake paintings I did in early May. I took inspiration from two kind of cupcakes and did several versions of them. I didn't want to post them all at once. Right now I tend to do series of paintings with a subject and it is nice to have some paintings with other subjects to mix things up with.

I have painted a few cupcakes lately, inspired by two different reference cupcakes, so there are variations of them. I painted two of this raspberry cupcake. I started with this one, but at some point I thought 6" x6" was too small to be able to do the raspberries justice, started with an 8" x 8" one instead. After I finished the larger one, I realized that I really liked the small one and finished it. I am glad I did.

A while back I really went for painting small, adjusting the compositions to fit my style of painting. I tried to keep it simple, letting the brush strokes do the work. I did two versions of this cupcake, sold one and decided to keep this one. This was the first of the two and I kept this one because of the experience of painting it, I really felt like I was in the zone. Not sure how many brush strokes that went in to it, but it painted itself.

When I paint cupcakes I try to be creative and push the limits, giving them some personality. I did this one from imagination.

I wanted to do a cupcake painting like a display, but I didn't want it to be too stiff so I played with the placings, sizes and forms.

This is a cupcake that is inspired by the photo provided for the "December Art Challenge". I did two version of it and both versions has a simplicity that I love.

I did this one in December, but there was something lacking, wasn't sure what. I did put it away for a while, and last week I went back to it, fixed a few details and now I like it a lot.

This one didn't end up like I intended it to do. I had some ideas about the background, but it didn't work out, so I adjusted it and added parts of cupcakes on each side, so it is like a display, cupcakes in a row.

This is one of the first paintings I did in the 6" x 6" size and is a smaller version of a cupcake I did a while back. I liked the colors & the blueberries against the white frosting.

Painting small gives me some problem since my art is line based, but when Lorri who has bought several paintings from me wants to see me doing 6" x 6" I can't refuse. I have played around with familiar subjects and compositions, trying to keep things simple and get the feel for it. The lines limit how small I can go without loosing the flow, but I think I got a good/OK start.

This is my first post with a 6" x 6" painting and it is a cute cupcake.

It is fun to paint cupcakes and it seem to be a popular subject. Have been thinking of doing more, even cakes and pies, but the problem is that they demand reference photos. Feel free to send me photos if you got some.

This one is done on commission and is a remake of an old painting of mine, with a few changes. It is much smaller and has a cherry on top. This was a real challenge for me, to simplify it, but still look like the original One Cupcake . I'm sure I will do more of this kind.
