Purple Iris 13

SOLD

My last 2 larger Iris paintings was drawn to the more graphic feel (Purple Iris 12 & Yellow Iris 3), and I kept the colors down, especially in the background. With this Iris painting I went bigger and with bolder colors. First I went with a calmer greenish background, I liked it, but I thought it was too safe, so a few days later I reworked the background. You can be the judge if I did the right thing, I think I did.

  1. I think the orange is much nicer. I like the turquoise blue you used on your last post too. I like both more than the green, (that's my humble opinion).
    p.s.
It's the Daily Paintworks free weekend postings on facebook. Although you may be a full member of DPW so maybe you can post anytime. Not me.
    Happy Painting and Happy Posting!

    1. Tack Jana (Thank you Jana).
Sometimes I wish I could paint like those I admire, but in the end I'm glad I paint like me and no-one else. =)

  3. There is definitely a warmer feeling to the painting now, two different moods, I confess I like them both ways.

    1. I think that as the artist I see things that others don't. Sometimes one get caught up in details that in the end wouldn't matter for other viewers.
I like them both too, but I thought the first one didn't give the painting the edge I wanted.

  4. I think you did the right thing with that background. In fact when I saw it I was blown away - looks like warm sunlight in late afternoon. It just sparkles! Makes me excited for springtime - really beautiful Roger.
