Tree abstraction 3
This one was done right after "Tree abstraction 2" (one of my favorite paintings this year), and is similar in color and mood. Tried out a few new things, for example I used a rubber tip pencil to scrape off wet paint.
When I do get into one of these series, a new painting is either a reaction to the latest (big difference) or trying out things that pops in my head during the last one (what if I did that instead).
Got some large ones to show later that I am very pleased with.
Have a great weekend.

Forest exploration 2
I didn't have any intention to post this one, not one of my favorites, but people around me have other ideas, they like it.
I just went exploring with this one. I had no reference photo or planned direction, it just evolved along the way.

Tree abstraction 2
One of my most viewed paintings is the recently sold painting "Tree abstraction 1". I have been fooling around, taking a more abstract approach to my latest forest paintings. The colors and inspiration comes from from darker scenes and cherry trees in full bloom. One can see them all over town. I will take new pictures of my latest paintings, but this have to do for now.

In the forest 9 - The Big One"
It is a while since I went really big, and on canvas, so I thought I would take the opportunity to make something for myself. I have never done a "gallery wrap" painting, so I bought frame and canvas for a 100 x 100 cm (39.4" x 39.4") painting.
I did a real big painting a few years ago, in my old style, but this is the biggest I have done with my new looser style. I had to adjust my approach to the size. I had the tendency make too much small details everywhere, had to balance it with big broad brush strokes. It was fun, I learned a lot, and I like it.

Forest exploration 1
In September last year, I started to paint on canvas hardboard-MDF (hardboard that has a canvas glued on it). Before that I painted on paper for a while, exploring and finding my "voice" as a painter. I accidentally ran out of canvas hardboard-MDF last weekend, and I started to paint over a an old unfinished painting on paper.
I realized that in some ways, I loose up and am less afraid to fail on paper, perhaps because it is cheaper. I like the result and I think I will do more on paper.

Tulips 4 - the whole bunch
A painting often leads to new questions, makes me wonder what if I did that instead. This one was to answer how I would do a full bouquet of tulips, how it would look. This painting did trigger the question how it would look if I mixed the colors of the flowers, but I haven't acted on it, not yet anyway.

In the forest 7
SOLD
I hope people doesn't get tired of my forest explorations. I doubted from the beginning that it would suit me. There is some type of landscapes that I haven't found how to approach yet, but I will get there.
I tried to get a "looking through" feeling on this one.

A honey crunch apple
I did this apple right after I did a remake of the old favorite of mine "four apples". This one is also a kind of remake of an old painting, but on the other hand "going for it" makes it unique.

In the forest 8
This is one of my forest paintings. On this one I decided to tone the colors down a little, it is more like being in the shade, taking cover.

Horse-chestnuts on the ground 3
After I did my last horse-chestnut painting, I felt like doing another one, and I wanted it to be over the top graphic. Not like a crazy painting, just as crispy as I could get it. Well I know I'm crazy, I love horse-chestnuts.

Tulips 3
A while back I painted a rough painting with red tulips. I liked the result a lot, but I wondered what it would look like if I had been more into it from the beginning and taken it a little more easy with it. So I did the same composition, changed the color of the tulips and did a softer/calmer version of the painting.

Four apples version 2
This is a larger version of an old favorite of mine. Since I don't have the original painting anymore and I thought there were some room for improvement, so I gave it a go.
I had to do some adjustments, balance the amount of details and the simplicity, but I think the result is what I aimed for.

Horse-chestnut on the ground 2
I know that it is spring, and this is a look back to October last year when I did one of my all time favorites. That one was done on paper and this is my take on the composition now. I changed the composition to fit the square and I didn't look at the original painting. The result isn't that different from the one I did last year. Slightly less color, but I still love it.

Tulips 2
I started with it anyway, and went very rough with the brush strokes, at times too rough, wasn't sure if it would end well. I think it went OK, and it inspired me to do another one with different colors and not as rough. I really love the 2nd one.

In the forest 4
I am not saying that I am back to my old self, but have been very creative lately, 6 paintings done and reworked an old one too. There has been a lot of forest/nature exploration, but have mixed it up with some other subjects too. This is the first of two similar paintings. Tried to keep it simple and graphic, but with a loose touch.
