Tree abstraction 17

I must confess that I almost loose track of which paintings that I haven't posted yet, what number it is, since I don't take them in order. This one is a reaction or continuation after I did number 16. It got more nuances and details, feels a little lighter.

  1. I agree - this one does feel lighter. Another great forest one - I really like the ones where we're looking up at the sky through the leaves. Do you work from photos with these, Roger? Do you ever just paint what you imagine?

    1. Thanks Karen. I do use reference photos some time, especially if I want get some new inspiration, but often I do without. A painting is either a continuation of the last or a reaction to the last. I usually get some questions, like how would it look like if i had done it that way instead, and go with that.

  2. The colors in this one are wonderful. The khaki, blue and black are stunning, earthy, sexy---if color schemes can be considered sexy. You have a unique way of abstracting reality. Whether you work from reference photos and/or imagination doesn't matter. Your paintings are imaginative.

    1. Thank you Linda. Like I wrote to Karen, I do both, but mostly I go with my instinct.

  3. There is a great light in this one, I can understand you loose track Roger, being all very similar and with just small differences :-)

    1. Thanks Jane. I hope people think they are not looking the same, they don't to me, but I am not objective. =)

  4. This one looks less turquoise and more dark blue with a bit of purple. I like the subtle difference. An art gallery room of your forest paintings would look stunning! Do you have a pic of them all hanging in the same room?
Have a wonderful week. It's super warm here and my sister is visiting for the week! Yippee!

    1. Thanks Nora. I do have 2 paintings of trees in my bedroom, and I hope that I will have my own exhibition in the future. =)
