Cupcake 15

Not For Sale

A while back I really went for painting small, adjusting the compositions to fit my style of painting. I tried to keep it simple, letting the brush strokes do the work. I did two versions of this cupcake, sold one and decided to keep this one. This was the first of the two and I kept this one because of the experience of painting it, I really felt like I was in the zone. Not sure how many brush strokes that went in to it, but it painted itself.

  1. This one is special, I can see that. The light and dark layers on the paper. It feels light and not overworked. Great work!

  2. When something paints itself it is always a winner. I think the touch of purple really gives a beautiful lift and light to the painting.

    1. Thank you Jane. Sometimes I'm afraid that simplicity can be seen as lack of work, but simplicity isn't easy.

    1. Thank you Debs. I like this one a lot and the experience is something that one want to repeat. The painting is a nice reminder of what one can do when not over thinking and trusting ones skill and intuition.
