Hard to find time to paint, which lead to overthinking and rushing to use the time I got, not a good thing when you have an expressive style.

It is easy that the focus is on producing instead of creating, but I do get some things done that I like.

When life happens, somethings have to change, which meant for me that I had to focus on other things than paint. I haven't painted for 2 years. I have tried to get it going a few times, but it wasn't in the cards.
I hope I can get going now, a slow start, but I have to work on balance between control and expression. This is a small starter, back to basics.

Sometimes it is a good thing to change things up when one is starting to get stuck, getting to repeat patterns. When it happens, I might go small, play with a single apple and try to put my spin on it.

The weird thing for me is that I can never plan or combine large or small paintings, often it all depend on what is working at the moment. I guess it has to do with (unlike 7-8 years ago) that I paint with instinct, expression, not planning too much. 

At the moment large works best, with small interruptions where I get some inspiration from details that I can take to a smaller canvas. Apples was one thing that worked very well on a few of my "Flower Exploration" paintings, and this one is the result of it.

After a long break like this, around 4 months, it is hard to get back where I were. I think it is because I am a different painter today, going with instinct, intuition and expression. I have to find the moment where I find myself back om my journey.

There is a lot of trial and error going on right now. It takes time to find the balance between patience and spontaneity, detail and simplicity and finding out what works right now. Depending on mood and where I am at the moment does matter. It can influence what size and subject that works best at that time.

This is a small flower abstraction I did to get going and get a feel about what works and what I feel like.

I have started to paint again .....

To get into it I used some familiar and fun subjects to paint, with focus on having fun and experimenting. This small flower painting isn't a drastic change, but the process was slightly different.

Easter is closing in and with it my Easter Exhibition. Have done a lot of frames to fit my small paintings. Will show some pictures of them soon.

I have also done a lot of garden work. Spring has finally arrived.

Shapes & Movement 55

Spring is here and I am putting all my free time in the garden, changing the layout on the front side, doing the ground work. I have been waiting a long time to get things going and finally I can.

This is a small abstract painting that I did this winter. It is simple, direct and with a limited color pallette.

I think this is the last painting I finished before I shift my focus to making frames for the Easter exhibition and garden projects. It is a small berry abstraction and it was a challenge to balance simplicity with enough details to make it vivid.

I painted this one a while back and it was a little different from what I did back then. I is kind of moody in a way, with it's limited color pallette, but at the same time very vibrant with it's warm colors.

This is a new version of a painting that I loved a lot, but got sold. I wanted to go in without any intentions and make an original, not a copy of the original. In my mind, this one is a winner. I think that I will include this one in my Easter exhibition, if it gets sold, great, if not I am more than happy to keep it myself. I will not put it up for sale, but if interested, contact me.

After doing a few berry paintings (autumn berries & cherries) it was time to mix things up. I wanted to do something else, but didn't know what I wanted to paint. Not sure why, but I stuck with the berries, but went more abstract with it. This is the result.
