I realized when I posted an old favorite of mine on Instagram, that it seem that I never posted it on my blog, or elsewhere. Probably because I did a few versions, especially close-ups of the same set up.

I really like this one too, because it is larger and a little "over the top".

This is a small painting I did earlier this autumn. It was a while since I painted cherries and I wanted to take advantage of my experience with autumn berries. I kept it simple and rough.

It was a while since I painted any cherries. I had just finished the last "autumn berries" paintings, when got the idea that it would be interesting to see how I would approach cherries today. This is one of the paintings that came out of that idea. I might do some more, going more abstract. This one is loose and rough.

It is no secret that I prefer to paint larger paintings, well at least large enough to work my lines etc. There is times when I get the urge to go small and I do think I learn a lot by it. This is one of those paintings and it was painted a while ago. I have also done some smaller paintings last week, but they will be posted later.

This is the painting that inspired my latest posts of blueberries (,cherries and raspberries). It is large and very in your face considering that some of the berries as large as a head, at least a child's head.
It is too hot for me to paint right now and don't have much spare time to sit down, but it's only summer once a year, right?

First I did this giant (19,7" x 27,6"), crazy and colorful painting of cherries, blueberries and raspberries. When I was done, I realized that within the painting I found a part that I liked and thought it would be a great composition in itself. I did two versions, like them both and I am keeping the larger one (unless someone change my mind).

When I painted this I liked the pile of cherries, but I had no idea in what context I wanted to have them in. I decided to go dark, moody and almost an almost colorless background. I might do another one with more vivid colors later.

This is actually a composition I started on a few months ago. I started with one that had a very lovely sketchy feeling too it and then I got stuck, not knowing where to go, I decided to start another one and let the first rest with the possibility of just being an unfinished sketch. Well, to make a long story short, I didn't know what I wanted and I wasn't totally pleased with the things went, so I trashed them both.

I have finally tried to get it done and I went with the same size as earlier. The composition also suited my new series of painting and I think it was worth the wait.

There will be more Rowen berries later, but first another "Super Size Fruits" painting. I have painted a lot this past week and I have had a lot of fun, more than usual in fact. I think the break was a good thing. Things had time to sink in and I recharged my creative battery.

I am back!

It has been a couple of crazy months, both good and bad things happened. I started to renovate my apartment to take my mind of the bad things. First the hallway and now I am a week from having a new bathroom.

My last post was on the 20th of November and I haven't done any painting for a month (walls don't count). I finally got started yesterday again, and the focus right now is to get painting into my system again.

If I don't keep on painting I loose motivation. My biggest motivation is progress and to explore.
It was really hard to get going again. I will try to do things that I like, even redo old paintings that I think I could do better or different know.

I went very rough with this one. I am not in the mood to work small or doing a lot of details. I like flaws, they give a painting character.

I just finished this large painting of cherries in a glass. I actually did 2 painting with the same composition, this is my favorite one of the two. I will post the other one later. I really like the impact this one does. The size and the colors really hit you in the face. I had a blast painting it.

I have been slacking lately and am running out of paintings to post, but as now I got at least 2 more to show.
This one was inspired by 2 previous paintings, Dark cherries & Healthy snacks 5 . I like this one a lot. It is low key, but the size gives it a big impact.

Someone wondered if I had a lot of my tree paintings on my walls and how it looked? Well, only got 2 in my bedroom.

This is my 7th and for the moment last snacks painting.
I have also been thinking about taking some time off painting, or at least slowing down and enjoying the summer. I have a 4 week vacation coming soon. Not going anywhere, but am going to take things slow and enjoy life.
I also plan to go back to paint on paper for a while and really experiment and try new things.

When I put this still life together I really liked it, but when I painted it, it really gave me a hard time. I am not saying that I did it bad, but the complexity of the composition made me play it safe and I lost some of the playfulness that I want to bring to my paintings. I was satisfied with it, but a part of me thought that it lacked something, so I took a chance and went for it. I think it worked.
