This might be the last post this year, or I might squeeze one more in before New Year. This is the third painting of 3 that I did with white background, keeping it clean, direct and no margin for errors.

Every brush stroke is visible and final, no corrections. I added some more colors in this one.

And now ..... something totally different, but still me.

After posting some of the initial line work that I usually use in the beginning of a painting, and some of the reaction I got from it, I thought it might be something I could work with.

This painting is based on that idea, with some additional details. I will probably explore this more in the future.

Still not able to paint (well, I started but had to stop), am in the process of selling our apartment and buying a larger apartment (or house), don't want to mess up all the things we have done recently.

I will be able to paint after I have covered the walls (with plastic) and the newly sanded and varnished wooden floor. I have to wait another 2 weeks until I can cover the floor though.

This is a painting of one of my favorite themes. The intention was to do an updated version of one of my first Rowan berries paintings for my Easter exhibit, but it didn't make the final cut, not enough space.

This is the first of two paintings based on the same reference photo. I posted the 2nd one earlier. I did take some progress photos of this one and are shown below. I thought the painting was finished at one point, but realized later that I wanted to take it a little bit further with the contrasts. The first three photos were taken with my iPhone in the evening, the colors are not accurate (too much yellow).

I have no idea what people want to see, but I have had a lot of fun painting this Rowan berries series. This is the 2nd one that is based on this scene and composition. I was not sure which one to post first, they are similar, but also very different. I chose this one because I took it a little further and if I have to chose, this is my favorite of the two.

I did this a while back. I did experiment with this one. There is very few black lines and  it got an abstract quality. I want (in general) that a painting should be working close-up and on a distance, with the eye blending the lines on a distance. I tried to take it one step further than I usually do.

The most important thing for me is to grow as an artist. I tend to paint more for the process, what I feel like painting at the time. I think I have learned and grown a lot, but I also realize that I have a long road to travel. At least I have fun doing it.

I have more or less done this composition before. There is advantages to have done something before, which suggest that I should do more sketches and test paintings. We have to wait and see how that goes.

I did this one a while back and I was a little ahead of time. Have been looking forward to the color change in the trees that will happen. I hope I have time to get out in the woods and take a lot of reference photos. This one is just a result of my imagination.

I actually painted this a week ago or so. I finished it the same day I had guests, so I put it in a closet and forgot it. The painting was inspired by another painting that I recently sold, and has more details and structures than I am doing right now.

After a period with experimentation and feeling that things didn't work the way I wanted, I finally found my game again. I started to go more graphic and thought more about design and color scheme etc. The last days has been a blast and I am really pleased with the paintings I have done.

Lately I have played around with compositions that has trees on different distances. It has been both fun and frustrating finding the balance between keeping my style and experimenting. Several paintings will not see the day. I can easily finish them up, but even if there is aspects that I love about them, right now I am so tired of them and prefer to move along to new paintings. One thing I have learned is that I have to keep things simple and graphic. Otherwise I get bored with it.

 I succeeded in keeping this painting graphic, abstract and fun, or at least I think I did.

I sold one of my favorite waterlily paintings, so I thought I better paint another one in a similar way. Off-course it didn't end up like that. During the process the painting got it's own life and I went with it.

What I love with these Tree explorations is that they are a journey, where I some times have a destination in mind, other times I just go with the flow and see where it ends.

I have the idea of going more abstract and being bold in the future. Not totally sure in what direction I will go, but with this one I went outside my comfort zone and it felt good.

I just finished this large painting of cherries in a glass. I actually did 2 painting with the same composition, this is my favorite one of the two. I will post the other one later. I really like the impact this one does. The size and the colors really hit you in the face. I had a blast painting it.
