Working with loose and rough brush strokes, keeping things simple. And still working with the Cone flowers. Main goal is to get back into painting again, and get out of my comfort zone. Think I am doing both.

This is the final small Iris painting I did a few weeks ago and is a close-up of an Iris that is partly covered by green leaves.

White coneflowers with butterfly

I am slowly getting back into painting again. I let statistics dictate what I should paint etc. Not a good place to be in. I have worked on some paintings with white cone flowers. I keep it simple, rough and just trying to get the groove back. This one is the first painting I've done since "The Nature's Arrangement Challenge", which also was a coneflower. I think they are fun and a little bit over the top, compared to daisies.

In the eye of the beholder

I was going around the garden surrounding the apartment houses where I live and came across and photographed this flower. Not sure what it is called, but it looked like it was eating one of it's own. Thought it was kind of funny.

 Am taking things easy right now, been a hectic summer, have painted a lot. This painting I did a week ago. First time painting this kind of Iris flowers.

Thought I mix things up and paint a water Lily painting, haven't done it in a while. Chose to do a smaller size painting, and with it I didn't go as loose as I normally like, but am still pleased with the result.

German landscape

There is an old challenge on the DailyPaintWorks homepage I never thought I would do. It is called "The German Landscape Challenge". I don't think I have done any serious attempt to do a landscape painting before I joined DailyPaintWorks. This is my take on that challenge, and I think it is time for me to find my way to do landscapes, so don't be surprised if there is a landscape here from time to time.

A single rust and orange colored coneflower

 

When I first saw this weeks challenge on DailyPaintworks homepage, I thought that it wasn't something that I would like to do, but since I needed something to take my mind of, I did it anyway, so here is my take on the challenge, I followed all the criteria and rules of the challenge. Only used Ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow medium, cadmium red medium and white. Only 3 different brushes was used and the painting was finished within an hour.

I posted a painting a little while ago that I called " Chines tree in Sweden". That tree wasn't the only one there, so I thought of doing the whole scene, like I mentioned before, need to find my way to do landscapes. If I am there yet, probably not, but had a lot of fun painting it.

Knowing the statistics about how a certain painting is received, how many people viewed it etc. makes one question what to paint, well right now I am a little confused, shall I paint what I feel like, or should I paint what people like? Well, off course I should paint what I feel like, and do it in a way that is typical me.

Made this one a week ago or so and is part of my "paint a lot of Iris paintings" period. Right now I taking it easy, some time away from painting, have painted a lot the last month, and it can be good with a little break.

This is my 2nd rose painting with more than one rose and a more complex natural background, kept it a little bit simpler than the last "Rose garden" painting.

Thought I do my version of daisies, and did the over the top version, a lot of daisies without making them too small..

The Iris flower is my new Water Lilies, paint them a lot, and mixing them up, some times the whole flower, sometimes only parts. This one is a close-up, and the painting got an abstract quality, something I also did with water Lilies.
