I have done 3 paintings of this subject and composition, a single flower based on a sunflower. The last one was a small painting that I thought would be on my upcoming exhibition, but it got sold. I got the urge to do another one, but not repeating myself. I went up in size, a lot, and I like the impact that it has.

This is a new version of a composition I painted a while back. It is one of those personal favorites I got, and I kept the original painting myself. I decided to do another one that could be part of my exhibition in April. It is the same size as the original, both are huge. There is always things that can't be replicated, but I think this one can stand on it's own, and I like it a lot.

This is a very spontaneous and exploratory  painting of yellow cone flowers.

As you can see by the number, this small floral painting was painted a week or so ago. I like this a lot, partly because it's not "cute" with perfect colorful flowers. It has a rough edge to it.

I think I have changed and improved a lot since I started to paint seriously and regulary. I have been thinking of going through older paintings and see if anyone of them deserve a 2nd try. There can be compositions and ideas that might be good. I never did before, but now I often do more than one version of a subject/composition.
This one is based on an earlier painting, not that old though, but I cropped the composition and went down in size. It is very direct and raw.

This is a rather bold painting considering it's size and the simplicity in it's composition. I made it a while back and it was at that time I also started to work with other colors than black in my contour lines.

I have been slacking lately. Taking some off-time from painting and have been too busy with other things. This is a flower painting I did with focus on the repetition and the changes of colors in the flowers.

This is one of the first flower paintings I did after turning things up a notch. Blue used to be my number one color, but not lately. Nice to revisit that color.

I have been painting a lot of flowers lately. I realized that I get bored if it gets too "natural". I want them up close, a little fun and graphic. I still hope that I will find a way to paint flowers in a vase some day with my twist.

The summer is here and what is more summer than flowers. Not sure why, but daisies and cone flowers are my favorite flowers so for this year. I did this one a while back, but I am considering start painting flowers again.

It is no secret that I like Cone flowers. I love how they look, almost alien. After painting colorful ones, I thought I paint these pale pink ones. I did this on in two sizes, I actually do that a lot lately, partly because of curiosity, could that be improved it I.....
This time I went from small to bigger. Trying out the subject and composition first, then going up in size and see if I could give it some more flair. This is the small one.

One of my personal favorite paintings is "Abstructure 4", I even made a smaller version of it that I sold. I love the impact of it and I wanted a companion piece to it, so I came up with this one. I tried to make it similar, but different than the original.

I haven't done much paintings of colorful flowers. I usually go with the subtle colors of the Iris or white. I did push myself with this composition.The flowers I painted were these multicolor cone flowers. I did a smaller one first that I liked, but I wanted to see if I could improve it when painting it in a larger version.
If I did or not is a matter of taste really. I will show the other one in a few days or so.

Think I am getting better at it, my best one so far, hope you are not bored with white coneflowers.Still keeping it loose, big bold brushstrokes, kept it together though, several flowers here.

Working with loose and rough brush strokes, keeping things simple. And still working with the Cone flowers. Main goal is to get back into painting again, and get out of my comfort zone. Think I am doing both.

I am slowly getting back into painting again. I let statistics dictate what I should paint etc. Not a good place to be in. I have worked on some paintings with white cone flowers. I keep it simple, rough and just trying to get the groove back. This one is the first painting I've done since "The Nature's Arrangement Challenge", which also was a coneflower. I think they are fun and a little bit over the top, compared to daisies.

When I first saw this weeks challenge on DailyPaintworks homepage, I thought that it wasn't something that I would like to do, but since I needed something to take my mind of, I did it anyway, so here is my take on the challenge, I followed all the criteria and rules of the challenge. Only used Ultramarine blue, cadmium yellow medium, cadmium red medium and white. Only 3 different brushes was used and the painting was finished within an hour.
