This painting was a few minutes from being scrapped and re-used for a new painting. I started painting it around 6 months ago, and had a rough time, one minute I loved where it was going, hating it 5 minutes later. I had no idea where I was going. It was not realism ( like I would ever), but it wasn't abstract either.

I just put it aside and thought it would be one of those that wouldn't get finished. It had potential, but it also had it's problems, but I had no vision.

I told my biggest fan and critic what he thought, and he said that he loved it and forbid me to reject it. I took his advice and decided to give it a go, to solve the things I didn't like.

Am not objective right now, but I solved it, and I am pleased with the end result.

I had no idea what picture I had used as reference and had to just to make it work.

I have started to take picture of my larger work in context, hanging on a wall , to show the size of the painting. I didn't have time to get a picture of this one earlier, ligth was also an issue (grey and rainy days), but here it is .

I changed format with this one. Took my largest panel and did this abstract kind of flower landscape. I kept a limited color palette and went for it.

There might be a late addition to my Easter Exhibition. Just finished this one, and I am pleased with the result. It is soft and moody, but I like it.

This is also an experimentation with a rejected painting. I did a dark blue transparent wash, making the old painting showing trough the layer and using it when it had a purpose. The process of this painting is more or less going from dark to light.

If everything goes well tomorrow, I will be painting again after my 3 weeks break.

This a flower abstraction painting based on the flower concept that I have been working on, all about shapes, simplicity and color. This one has an overall warm color palette and contrasts made with values.

I often hear that my art is colorful, something I don't think of when painting. With this one I wanted to pull back, use less color, but in the end I think it is still colorful, just not as much as usual. I did a smaller (16" x 16") version also, will post that one later.

Some paintings inspire one to take a certain direction, my "Flower Abstraction 93" painting was one of those. After painting a lot of trees, I needed a change, and this was the path I followed. These large flower abstraction paintings are more or less bold, more or less abstract, but they all have in common that I tried to push my limits. This is the first one I did.

I have been painting large and mainly landscapes and trees lately, so don't have much to mix up my posts with. I have a few paintings with other themes, but I wanted to show this one first, a favorite of mine. I like the playfulness and composition of this one.

This is a new version of a composition I painted a while back. It is one of those personal favorites I got, and I kept the original painting myself. I decided to do another one that could be part of my exhibition in April. It is the same size as the original, both are huge. There is always things that can't be replicated, but I think this one can stand on it's own, and I like it a lot.

I thought that my first real attempt at Dogwood flowers was a success and I had a lot of fun painting it and decided to make a small one and a large one of the same subject. I did post the "work in progress" pictures below on my Facebook a while back, but I didn't show the final painting.
It was a real challenge to balance all the elements in this painting, but I had a lot of fun.
