Flower Exploration 43

I can't say that I am totally into painting again, but I am satisfied with the things I have done. Large new versions, variations of earlier concepts/paintings. It is so easy that they lack the spontaneity and doesn't live up to the previous ones, but I am glad that they did.
This is a large painting with abstract flowers in a vase. It has a limited color pallette.

Shapes & Movement 116

This is one of my favorite paintings at the moment. Love the colors and the rhythm of the lines and shapes.

Flower Exploration 12

After several painting of flowers in a vase, I thought I take it a little more abstract, skipping the vase and go with shapes and colors. Working like I do, going where my instinct lead me, it got less abstract than I had in mind, but that isn't a bad thing. I like this one a lot.

Shapes & Movement 105

Did this one earlier the spring. It is a wonderful season for working and enjoying our garden, but am working on getting back to painting again.

Autumn Berry Abstraction 12

The subject of pushing ones limit, going outside ones comfort zone, is a tricky one. I can't  do it all the time, have to find a new place that is my new comfort zone before going further, if you know what I mean.

A related question is how much do I push? Not enough mean no progress, too much mean there is a risk that I reject it because I can't relate to it, especially if I am not objective enough.
This is a painting that I went outside my comfort zone with. At one point, I was about to scrap the painting as a whole and only save one or two sections of it. The painting as a whole were too busy, to expressive.
I put the painting aside, left it alone for a while. I usually loose interest if I don't keep going and I don't always know in which direction I want to go. This time I was able to keep it together and improve it.
I am not at the point where I am objective enough to judge it, but so far, I don't dislike it.

Shapes & Movement 45 - On the wall

Time to revisit a painting that have been posted earlier,  but now in a new context. This is how it looks hanging on my kitchen wall. I know that I have said it before, but a picture of a painting rarely give a real impression of it's size. Especially large paintings.

Shapes & Movement 45

This is a larger version of a smaller favorite of mine. It's not a copy of the original, but a more complex version  with similar colors. This one, the large one, will probably be part of my "Easter exhibition. I will keep the small one for now, as a future reference and inspiration.

Autumn Berry Abstraction 2 - On the wall

It is a very dark season up here in Sweden right now, taking pictures are not easy. I hope these pictures are good enough to do the painting justice and give an idea about the size.

Autumn Berry Abstraction 2

This one was mostly painted while I was down with a cold. Even if I didn't feel well, the process gave me energy and kept me motivated and I like the result a lot.

Shapes & Movement 41

It was time to push myself again, go outside my comfort zone, push my limits. The hard part is to know where to go and keep some objectivity to what one is doing. Well, I like where it ended up.

Shapes & Movement 38

This one is a continuation of "Shapes & Movement 37". It isn't a copy, but a variation of the concept, with the same color scheme. The overall impression of it is that it is less "dark" & "moody".

Shapes & Movement 37

Sometimes a painting opens up opportunities, give inspiration for a concept or for further paintings. This one really inspire me and it has already been the inspiration for new paintings. I don't know if I will put it up for sale or not, at least not right away.

I have started painting again. I am taking it slow and I have no clear direction yet, but I have started to experiment and play with non-figurative abstracts again. I tend to over think things right now and I have to remind myself to have fun and just paint.

Bird's nest abstraction 55

I worked on this for a while. It was originally a flower abstraction that went nowhere I wasn't inspired and painting wasn't on my mind. At some point I decided to scrap it and have some fun with it. Working on a used canvas has it's benefits and disadvantages. On one side there is no pressure (can only get better), on the other side lower ones expectation and not taking things serious.

It took some time to get things right, but I had fun, got some inspiration, and I like the result.

Flower Abstraction 154

This is one of my latest paintings. I still dabble in flowers and bird's nests, but looking for my next muse.
If anyone got an idea or a suggestion about a subject that could be interesting in my style, feel free to contact me.
I wanted this one to be like a rainbow, to be soft but with contrasts. It is all about repetition with variations.

Bird's Nest Abstraction 54

I planned to paint a lot, but instead we have done a lot off planning and reshaping our garden. This is our first summer living here and I confess, it is hard work but also a lot of fun.
I did manage to get this one done. I got a request to do a large single nest painting and this is what I came up with. It was a real challenge.

Flower Abstraction 149

I was very inspired by an earlier large flower abstraction painting, "Flower Abstraction 32"
I love the painting in it's whole, one of my personal favorites, The thing that inspired this one is how the dark flowers on the bottom, just peak through the dark background and how the yellow parts of the flowers glow in the dark. I took that and decided to do a large version, a dark moody painting, with a limited color palette and  that was all about repetition. I did light up a part too make it pop.
This one is all about the size and impact.

Rowan Berries 25

We didn't plan to do some work done with our garden right now, but we are. We have pulled up a high hedge with European Beech and replacing it with a fence. That hedge took a lot of space from our garden, and stealing a lot of light. Pulling up those trees and roots is hard work. The hedge consisted of 74 plants.

This is not a season painting, but a favorite subject of mine. Rowan berries, a kind of autumn berries.

Flower Abstraction 132

Not For Sale

This is one of my large flower abstractions. Can go up one size, perhaps I will do that some day. I kept to a limited color palette and worked more with the feeling and atmosphere. I haven't used any reference photo for a while and it is a blessing and a curse. I can experiment this way, but I also don't know what the painting will look like, what direction it is going to take. I go on instinct  and experience.

Flower Abstraction 130

This one didn't have a good start, or at least there was a few things that bothered me after I got some color done. It is a flower pattern/repetition composition, but the initial painting was stiff and it didn't flow. I kept what I liked (the bottom half and the three flowers on the left) and reworked the rest. I like how it turned out. It is playful and has a flow.
