I have gradually gone larger and the thought behind this is work on contrast, values and color.  I made the flowers colorful, but in a dark way, and contrasting them to a vibrant background.

Have done several small flower abstraction, but thought I mix things up with this slightly larger one. This one had it's ups and downs. It started great, took it too far in a direction that I wasn't sure about, and finally I pulled it all together, and went for it. A little rougher than usual, but I like the result.

I have things that I plan to do, subjects etc. to explore, but got caught up playing around with these small flower abstractions. Painting small doesn't always fit my style of painting, but right now it does.

I also realized that photographing these small paintings can be problematic, that too much details in the canvas etc. is showing.The reason is that the photo is larger than the actual painting. Posting smaller pictures of these small paintings from now on.

Time is still something that I don't have enough of and I would have liked to have had more painting done, but at least I am painting again.

As a warm-up, I have done something that suits small sizes and has a strong design element, my simplified flowers.

The Easter Exhibition is over and I am left with a lot of positive energy, time to get painting again (unless I get stuck in our garden). I did this one recently and it was a result of liking a part of a painting that I am not sure going to get finished.

Here is a few pictures from my exhibition that ends on Sunday. The best thing about an exhibition is the energy that I get from all the positive feed back. I am really looking forward to get some paint on a canvas soon.

I would never be where I am if I didn't go outside my comfort zone and it is also the reason why I went from an occasional painter to a painter that is on a continuous journey. I get a lot of energy from it.
This one of those times when I went for it, learned a lot, and liking what I see. I especially like the clean aspect against the rough one.

May main subject has been landscapes for a while, at least since I got back after my break. Lately I have felt that it was time to paint something else and what I have felt strongest for is continue explore non-figurative abstract art. This is one of my latest paintings.

I painted this one to be a companion piece for "Tree Abstraction 61" and be part of my Easter exhibition. It was strange to paint this big and keep the simplicity, not going overboard with details. I had to take my time and make every brush stroke count.

At first I thought that this was going to be a little too traditional 3 objective composition, but to be honest, I like this abstract painting.

The downside of showing paintings on Internet is that there is nothing that show what size a painting is or the impact it does. Sometimes I am surprised over how small a painting is or the opposite. This is a recent painting of mine, shown in a context that show its size.

I have done a lot of landscapes and nature related subjects lately and got the urge to go more abstract,  a nice change of pace. I tend to avoid going light. Partly because light mean less color and partly because going light conflict with my white and yellow lines. I know that I can make it work, but it still impact my work, something I have to work with.
