I am working mostly with non-figurative abstract paintings at the moment and that will naturally be a common theme in my future posts. I try to mix up things from time to time and the painting of the day is one of those paintings. I have done of landscapes and tree paintings a while back, thought I would take the opportunity to do a small tree painting. Painting small has worked very well for me lately. I would like to take future tree painting in to a more abstract direction, but I like this one a lot.

After doing a few berry paintings (autumn berries & cherries) it was time to mix things up. I wanted to do something else, but didn't know what I wanted to paint. Not sure why, but I stuck with the berries, but went more abstract with it. This is the result.

This is one of my first abstract paintings I did when I returned to the subject. It is very small, but colorful, clean and graphic. It has great impact for a small painting.

Here is another playful take on a Pine Cone. Every time I paint one, I get reminded of the similarities to a pine-tree or a fir-tree.

This is a small painting I did earlier this autumn. It was a while since I painted cherries and I wanted to take advantage of my experience with autumn berries. I kept it simple and rough.

This is one of my more colorful nest paintings. I wanted it to be less realistic, to be more about color and shapes. An explosion of shapes and color. I used a limited color pallette to give it a graphic look.

I have experimenting with black and white abstract paintings and from that there isn't a big leap to adding a color (or two). I like how it still look very graphic, but gives the painting that extra dimension.

This is how this painting looked with a simple frame that I made. I usually make these frames for smaller paintings, like 6 x 6 inches, but works for larger ones too. The new owner was happy with the result.

This is the 3rd of the 3 abstract paintings that I did more or less simultaneous a while back. The start and approach were the same, but the color combination and end result where very different.

This is one of my newest bird's nest paintings. I have tried to push them be more abstract, where it is not as important to read them as bird's nests. In the end, I want them to be bold, colorful and fun.
